Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is a perennial mesophilic herbaceous plant 15 to 50 cm high, every so often as much as 70 cm. The rhizome is creeping, thin, and branched. Stems are ascending or erect, tetrahedral, easy or branching. Leaves are opposite, easy, sessile. The corolla is blue, violet-blue or bluish-violet, every so often pink. The time of flowering of Scutellaria lateriflora is from June to August, the fruiting time is from July to September.
