Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a perennial branched plant, frequently conical in shape, 0.5–2 m high, rarely 2.5 m. The stem is leafy all through its height, erect, brownish with a purple tint. Rhizome is multi-headed or short-creeping, thickened within the upper part. The leaves are green, bare or fairly pubescent, densely pubescent below, whitish or even silvery. The flowers are small, a lot of, yellow or brownish. Baskets are erect, collected in a loose panicle inflorescence. Mugwort blooms from July to September. The fruit is the achene. The fruits ripen in July – October.
