Calendula, also referred to as as ‘Pot Marigold’, is a yellow or orange colored flower recurrently found in northern Mediterranean countries. This herb is regularly used in households as a coloring and flavoring agent for foods as rice, cereals and soups. Alternatively, the Calendula tea constituted of the petals of the Calendula flower has been brewed as a natural medicine for thousands of years. As with a number of the herbal teas, the Calendula tea also has numerous health benefits. To prepare the tea, dried marigold flowers are steeped in hot water (regularly 90 to 95 degrees Celsius after cooling from a boil) in either a teapot, cup, or glass; continuously rock sugar may be added. The resulting drink is transparent and ranges from pale to bright yellow in color, with a floral aroma.
