Description
An early variety. Grows 3 – 5 years in the same place. The leaves are elongated-oval, dark green, 3 to 4″ (5-10 cm) long, 1 to 2″ (3-5 cm) wide, and contain many vitamins. Green leaves are used for cooking.
Planting instructions:
Sow seeds for the sorrel plants in spring when the soil has warmed up. To ensure high germination, it is vital to prepare seeds. For several days, the seed material is wrapped in a cloth and watered with water. The seeds will receive the necessary moisture, in an effort to help the plants ascend in the shortest conceivable time. It is also conceivable to dilute nutrient fertilizers in water, so that the sorrel will increase immunity. This will allow you to get 100% germination.
Prepare a well drained bed with well tilled soil. Keep the bed fairly moist until germination and then thin the plants when they reach 2 inches (5 cm) high. Sorrel will not need a large number of supplemental care, but the bed does wish to be kept weeded and the plants will have to receive at least 1 inch (3 cm) of water per week. Sorrel can be utilized from late spring until fall, with management. Harvest only what you want from the plant. It is much like lettuce and greens, where You’ll be able to cut the outer leaves and the plant will continue to produce foliage. You’ll be able to begin to harvest when the plants are 4 to 6 inches (10-15 cm) tall. The smallest leaves are best in salads and add an acidic tang. The larger leaves are more mellow.
