Description
In nature, Boldo (Peumus boldus) grows in the central regions of Chile and Argentina. Boldo is an evergreen tree as much as 7 m high, occasionally growing like a shrub. The leaves of the plant are elliptical in shape, rounded on the end, the surface of the leaves is quite tuberous, covered from above and below by bubble-like bulges with tiny hairs. Flowers are dioecious, in short paniculate end and axillary inflorescences. Barberry (lat. Berberis vulgaris) is a species of the genus Berberis of the Berberidaceae circle of relatives. The genus includes about 580 species. Berberis vulgaris is a highly branched, thorny shrub 1.5–2.5 m high. The flowers are yellow, 6–9 mm in diameter. Bright orange nectaries are positioned on the base of the flower. There may be one pestle, and lots of stamens. The fruit is a berry, oblong – elliptical, bright red or purple in color. Barberry blooms in April – May. The fruits ripen in September – October.
