Description
Anise extract is obtained from both the leaves and the seeds of the spice referred to as star anise. It has a strong, reasonably sweet licorice flavor as a result of the presence of an aromatic compound referred to as anethole, which may be found in fennel, tarragon and licorice itself. Anise extract is popular in baked goods from world wide, and may be every so often used to flavor liquor and herbal liqueurs. In Mediterranean countries it’s used to flavor apĆ©ritifs such as Pernod, Anisette, Ouzo, Raki and Arak and in Latin The usa it’s referred to as Aguardiente. In Central and Northern European countries, it’s used in baking breads and cakes, and in Southeast Asia and India, it’s used in curries, more predominantly with fish.
